Data Science & Advanced Analytics - DSAA

With departments in Frankfurt, Philadelphia, Paris, London, Milan and Warsaw as well as a network of over 150 team members worldwide – DSAA is the global competence centre for data science at IQVIA. Complex statistical analysis at the highest level are conceptualized and implemented to support international customers in the pharmaceutical industry - often within multinational projects. Senior Data Scientist, DSAA – the role

This role is intended to enhance IQVIA syndicated offerings worldwide by designing and delivering new machine learning solutions to a resilient and scalable Kubernetes production environment that will use pharma big data on state of the art hardware such as massive distributed clusters for training. This role will concentrate heavily on the IQVIA CORE:

  • Domain Expertise: Seek and embrace opportunities to speak publicly in conferences, to clients and executives, and the wider public about the institutional knowledge and cutting edge approaches backing our work.
  • Unparalleled Data: Our longitudinal prescription data, electronic medical records, claim, and more add up to pedabytes of information regarding the pharma and healthcare industry that can be leveraged to support our clients.
  • Advanced Analytics: We are looking for and hiring the best. A true data scientist who is as passionate about cutting edge machine learning approaches as they are about improving healthcare practices.

Mandatory skills:

  • Develop machine learning and data mining technologies
  • Integrate models in production ready REST APIs that are scalable and resilient
  • Setup a CI/CD pipeline to deploy services to container orchestration environments
  • Conceptualize, design, and develop innovative sampling approaches
  • Select and apply modern statistical technologies including machine learning and data mining techniques in connection with pharma big data to identify complex patterns
  • Develop quality control methodologies for big data utilizing machine learning approaches
  • Design of data imputation methodologies with machine learning approaches
  • Design new algorithms for data projection
  • Create frameworks, pipelines, and processes to monitor model drift and improve model performance.
  • Identify areas where machine learning and automation can be used for process improvement
  • Work with anonymized electronic medical records, pharmacy, physician and hospital data
  • Work with technology teams to support implementation of new statistical technologies and machine learning algorithms in big data platforms
  • Keep abreast of recent research, new technologies and tools, and algorithmic developments in machine learning

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics/Econometrics, or related field
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in software development methodologies and quantitative data analysis or a PhD with at least 1 year of relevant professional experience with research in machine learning algorithms
  • Very good knowledge and understanding of Statistics, Econometrics, and Machine Learning methods
  • Experience applying Machine Learning methods to business questions
  • Experience with handling Big Data using Spark and Hadoop
  • Proficient in R & Python
  • Exposure to Spark/Hadoop and either Theano/Tensorflow/Caffe/Torch
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) including technical aspects of a project, ability to develop usable documentation, results interpretation and business recommendations
  • Local language skills to an advanced level (spoken and written), with complete fluency in English.
  • Strong analytic mindset and logical thinking capability, strong QC mindset
  • Demonstrates consulting, creativity, critical thinking, project planning, and attention to detail capabilities
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical market and experience with pharmaceutical data (medical, hospital, pharmacy, claims data) would be a plus, but not a must
