We created the Human Data Science Cloud (HDSC) to access, integrate, enrich, and transform healthcare data at scale for advanced analytics, machine learning and AI/ML applications. More than 700 IQVIA Data Scientists use this global platform for a modern approach to data science.  Now we are making this exclusive capability available to our customers to leverage proven approaches to apply Human Data Science and move healthcare forward. 

HDSC utilizes IQVIA’s High-Performance Platform Infrastructure comprised of many big data technologies including Hadoop, Data Science Tools, containerization/orchastration technologies such as Kubernetes, Mesophere/DCOS, Triton, as well as many other cutting-edge technologies.   HDSC operates in one of the world’s largest on-premise, private cloud infrastructures, as well as public clouds and we are expanding this global resource aggressively. 

What you’ll do:

You will join a team of highly talented Architects, Engineers, Data Scientists, and Sales teams that evaluate client needs and applications for the HDSC and architect solution options.  You will work with sales enablement teams and lead discovery meetings to understand client’s business, functional, and technical needs and synthesize those requirements into comprehensive solution designs. 

Secondary focus will be on the HDSC product roadmap and the advancement of our open source Hadoop platform with emphasis on Data Science product offerings such as Cloudera Data Science Workbench (CDSW), Jupyter, R-Studio and various other products. 

Required Experience:

•             Experience in modern data management, data warehousing, and data integration

•             Data migration, security, privacy, and disaster recovery concepts

•             Concepts in modern data science approaches and platforms

•             Experience with scripting and programming (i.e. Python, Scala, Java, Bash/Shell)

•             Cloudera Data Science Workbench, Jupyter, Dataiku, Notebooks, IDE, R-Studio

•             Docker, Kubernetes, Containerization

•             Experience with Hadoop Stack and Spark 2

•             Experience with Linux, AIX, or other Unix flavors


•             Become team SME on Data Science platform infrastructure and systems for cloud managed tools and solutions

•             Support and help to drive our hybrid cloud strategy, develop strategies for compute burst

•             Work with data architects on the logical data models and physical database designs optimized for performance, availability and reliability

•             Mentors development team members

•             Proactively helps to resolve difficult technical issues

•             Provide technical knowledge to teams during project discovery and architecture phases

•             Assess new initiatives and technologies to determine the work effort and estimate the necessary time-to-completion

•             Participate in projects through various phases

•             Partner with the business units to develop effective solutions that solve business challenges

The ideal candidate will have:

•             BSc or MSc in Computer Science or related Or 10+ years relative working experience

•             5+ years’ experience working in Linux

•             3+ years of object oriented programming experience in a high level language like Python, java, scala

•             Experience with distributed frameworks such as Spark, SparkR and PySpark.

•             Experience in Hadoop eco system like YARN, Hive, Impala, Spark2, Hbase

•             Familiar with data science concepts and modeling techniques

•             Understanding of Life Sciences or Healthcare industries

•             Desire to learn new things

•             Great teamwork, communication and collaboration skills
