Job Description

Join us on our exciting journey! IQVIA™ is The Human Data Science Company™, focused on using data and science to help healthcare clients find better solutions for their patients. Formed through the merger of IMS Health and Quintiles, IQVIA offers a broad range of solutions that harness advances in healthcare information, technology, analytics and human ingenuity to drive healthcare forward.

Director of Research Analytics and Studies
T-Shaped Evidence Networks Central Team

Location: London, United Kingdom OR Paris, France

IQVIA - Background

Around the world healthcare stakeholders are working to improve patient outcomes through treatment innovations, provision and better access to healthcare. IQVIA provides the information, technology and research service solutions they need to drive new insights and approaches. With a global team of 60,000, we harness insights, commercial and scientific depth, and executional expertise to empower clients to achieve some of their most important goals: improving clinical, scientific and commercial results, realising the full potential of innovations and ultimately, driving healthcare forward.

We are one of only a few organisations that integrate real-world evidence, health economics, outcomes research, consulting, and health intelligence tools at the national and international levels across the healthcare value chain.

The position we are recruiting for sits within the EDEN division of IQVIA’s Real World and Analytics Solutions Global Business Unit. This unit applies healthcare intelligence tools and expertise in real world evidence to deliver deep insights into the realities of healthcare delivery, patient populations, pathway design, the effectiveness of healthcare interventions and products, and value for money. The real world insights can also better inform the design of research programmes.

European Data & Evidence Networks (EDEN)

It is our belief that availability and transparency of treatment and patient outcomes data will lead to improved patient care. As such, in collaboration with leading pharmaceuticals and in consultation with healthcare professionals, governments and patient groups, IQVIA is leading the development of pan-European information infrastructure platforms to collate comprehensive, up-to-date and validated data on how anti-cancer interventions are used in clinical practice, and how successfully. Working with healthcare data providers across Europe, the initiatives will enable the oncology community to keep pace with innovation and derive the greatest value from anti-cancer treatments.

Technology is at the very core of our success: it enables our ambition to help connect treatment innovation to patient benefits and ultimately broaden the opportunity for individual patients to receive the therapies that are appropriate for them. Technology also protects by design the privacy of these patients.

European Oncology Evidence Network (EOEN)

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an ambitious initiative that will establish the first comprehensive long-term Oncology Evidence Network across Europe.

The EOEN is an exciting internal start-up opportunity funded by IQVIA. We are currently a dedicated team of 20 people across 3 countries, and will scale up as we build our network of 15 to 20 hospital-based, state of the art research data repositories, staffed with local teams to drive local data conformance and curation to a universal cancer data model that is fit for precision oncology. These dedicated clinical coders, health informaticians and statistical programmers will run high-quality, multi-site observational-type studies on treatment outcomes and quality of care in oncology and ultimately deliver federated analytics to enable precision oncology.

The Director of Research Analytics and Studies will join our small central team of engagement, technology and programme management professionals to oversee our study and research programmes, and to build our capability in federated real world analytics across our European hospital network for international precision oncology.

There is a significant senior engagement component to this role: with hospitals, internal delivery and development partners, internal customers and external stakeholders.

  • With hospitals, you will need to explain and sell the benefits of multi-site, federated analytics with respect to their research agenda, and drive the strategic evolution of the research partnership
  • With internal delivery partners, both within TSEN and with other capability centres, you will
    • Oversee the planning of studies and the coordination of their execution over the network
    • Act as evidence network product owner, defining the requirements and driving continued evolution of the research analytics platform
    • Build the overall capability of the team in federated analytics
  • With internal client teams, you will act as the evidence network champion: building awareness, interest and engagement of real world evidence sales leads to drive demand for current and future study types
  • With external stakeholders, you will establish our external scientific credibility, including coordination of scientific advisory boards and the development of compelling scientific conference programmes

You will report to the European leader of the Oncology Evidence Network and have matrixed responsibility for analytics and research delivery with central technology development teams, country research operations management and on-site statistical teams. The role could be based in London or Paris. We reserve the right to flex the seniority of this role by applicant.

  • Strong communications skills, especially in a research strategy and innovation context
  • Experience of medical research, and an understanding of the sensitivity of medical data, the importance of information governance and research process quality control
  • Prior knowledge or experience of clinical informatics, biostatistical programming or advanced analytics with a strong mathematical foundation
  • Evidence of effective team management in a matrixed organization
  • Willing to travel within our European footprint

  • Oncology or bioinformatics research experience
  • Direct experience in federated clinical analytics, either in the private or academic sectors
  • Experience in real world effectiveness evaluation and/or research methods innovation, e.g. from observational study operations management, clinical trial management and planning or potentially regulatory review of real world data

Competitive and commensurate with the scope of the role.

We know that meaningful results require not only the right approach but also the right people. Regardless of your role, we invite you to reimagine healthcare with us. You will have the opportunity to play an important part in helping our clients drive healthcare forward and ultimately improve human health outcomes. Whatever your career goals, we are here to ensure you get there! We invite you to join IQVIA™
