The Analytics Centre of Excellence

Our new Analytics Centre of Excellence (Analytics COE) harnesses our global healthcare insights, working closely with our clinical and therapeutic experts to power evidence-driven design, speed site activation and recruit the right patients, faster. This is a new unit within our business, integrated within Clinical Operations. We’re using big data and advanced analytics to derive insights that transform clinical development and bring new medicines to patients faster through successful trial delivery.

This multi-functional team is an innovation for our business, requiring entrepreneurial and independent thinking to build our capability. Unique and with a global view, this Centre of Excellence is a chance to revolutionize the clinical research industry.

Country Consultant – the role

This role presents new opportunities to interrogate data in new ways – dealing with larger than ever datasets, you will be involved in trials valued in the millions. With a great deal of autonomy, you will be dealing with differing methodologies and then ensuring that project deliverables are aligned and consistent. You will be focused on providing high quality input to client projects and the successful delivery of assignments. As a result, although it is not a ‘project management’ role, it does require these skills – and where necessary training will be provided.

Your typical activities might include:

  • Member of project team, ensure efficient and effective project delivery to meet project team and client expectations;
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to input into deliverables; may take full ownership of certain assignments;
  • Gather local expertise, for example from relevant hospitals and then feed insights back to the business;
  • Predict which sites will do well in future, thus saving time and benefitting clients who will gain faster access to drugs;
  • Remain current on industry, client and competitive trends through the delivery of analytic studies and participation in formal and informal learning opportunities;
  • Contribute to building out analytic deliverables and new methods to address R&D Solutions needs;
  • Partner with the India team to streamline process and build efficiencies and lead / coordinate technical solutions development for custom analytics;
  • Share learning's and knowledge with broader team, including the global ACOE team and broader local country organization;
  • Support offerings development efforts to build out new capabilities leveraging data and analytic methodologists to address R&D business objectives based on local country data and methods;
  • Develop presentations that are appropriate to the needs of the audience

Qualification:

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor or Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or other related field;
  • A combination of analytics, technology, and consulting experience.
  • Strong understanding of UK health data (HES (hospital episode statistics) and EMR (GP level). And exposure to other types of data, including oncology, genomics, etc.)
  • A demonstrated understanding of project, time and data management, as well as strong interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in client-facing situations, with a mix of entrepreneurial, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and Excel; a good understanding of data modelling, visualization, e.g. Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI, and programming, e.g. Python;
  • Experience with Big Data analytics and related technologies, e.g. Hadoop, Impala, Hive, Spark, is desirable;
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written); strong business/scientific written
