This is a 9 month paid internship in the Commercial Effectiveness team.

Commercial Effectiveness is a key department in the UK Commercial Services team. The UK Commercial Effectiveness consulting team consists of 22 people in London, supported by 15 people in Bangalore, designing and delivering commercial effectiveness solutions, supported by our world-class proprietary data assets, to fuel the advancement of our UK-based pharmaceutical and healthcare clients.

Commercial effectiveness works across the drug development lifecycle to make our clients commercial sales force and marketing teams more efficient. We are looking for someone with a life science background, strong analytical experience and a passion for improving the way our life science clients sell and market their products.

The Commercial Effectiveness team principally supports our clients in three main capability areas:
• Commercial Effectiveness Consulting
• Profiling, Segmentation and Targeting
• Longitudinal Patient and Prescription Tracking

Analysts within Commercial Effectiveness play a key role in delivering excellent analytical and advisory projects with our clients. They are responsible for owning and delivering work independently, taking accountability to ensure deliverables are of the highest quality, and that deadlines are met. Depending on the nature of the project, this may involve taking a lead for a given analysis, or contributing as part of a large team within a wider program.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Working closely with our clients on a daily basis to understand challenges, requirements, and business issues
  • Performing quantitative and qualitative analyses to aid the development of recommendations; exercise informed business judgment in identifying the correct approach to client issues
  • Contributing to internal brainstorming sessions to develop project methodology
  • Contributing to the preparation, execution and follow up of client meetings and workshops
  • Conducting independent desk research and primary research to specific briefs using internal and external sources
  • Taking responsibility for creating sections of reports, presentations and other client deliverables (with guidance and supervision)
  • Acquiring deep knowledge of IQVIA’s data sources and how these can be applied to address our client’s commercial challenges
  • Broadening knowledge of consulting methodologies and the health and life sciences industries through the delivery of consulting engagements and participation in formal and informal learning opportunities
  • Collaborating with colleagues in IQVIA’s Bangalore-based Global Delivery Center in order to deliver projects profitably and at a high level of quality 
  • Complying with all relevant IQVIA policies, processes and procedures, and maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information held, processed or communicated by IQVIA, in line with those policies, processes and procedures

Skills, Education and Experience Required:

  • You will need to be eligible to work in the UK/EU without sponsorship
  • An A-level in Maths is preferred, plus a degree (minimum 2:1 Honours) in a life science or numerical focused discipline.
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel literacy
  • Interest in consulting, healthcare in general, and the pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to build credibility and influence external and internal stakeholders
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) to a strong business standard
  • Able to support the execution of multiple complex projects at once within a team environment, to tight deadlines
  • Good team player with strong interpersonal skills for influencing and advising
