PURPOSE
This position will  be responsible for facilitating the orchestration of integrated bioinformatics and computational systems.  This includes overseeing the successful delivery of systems and output at a global scale. Routine tasks will involve transitions from algorithmic, computational, development and infrastructure teams to enforce alignment from stakeholders.  This position may also manage multiple direct reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily program management throughout the program life cycle.
  • Planning the overall program, developing metrics and monitoring the progress.
  • Helping to ensure compliance with all company SOPs.
  • Managing risks and issues and taking corrective measurements.
  • Coordinating the projects and their inter-dependencies.
  • Reporting individual project and program status in conjunction with other Directors and individuals in the PMO.
  • Managing and utilizing resources across projects.
  • Managing stakeholders’ communication, driving accountability by driving alignment.
  • Aligning the deliverables (outputs) to the program’s “outcome” with the aid of the Director of Software Development.
     

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Good knowledge and handling of project and program management methodology and techniques.
  • Expert with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (Waterfall and Agile Scrum).
  • Ability to gain a good understanding of the wider objectives the bioinformatics, software, EA, and Q2 organization.
  • Ability to work positively with the wide range of individuals involved in program management.
  • The ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Being able to effectively communicate system components and integration points to wide audience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite of applications.
  • Working knowledge of Bioinformatics, Genomics, or Life Sciences.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coach and train junior staff.
  • Ability / willingness to learn bioinformatics / genomics.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masters’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics,  Molecular Bioliology or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  PMP certification and working within a regulated industry environment are desired, but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers
  • Regular sitting for extended periods of time
