Working under the direction of the Senior Director, Corporate Communication, the Associate Director will play a strong role in helping set the strategic direction of the IQVIA Global Business Unit (GBU) internal communications, external communications and social media programs in line with business goals and objectives. A significant portion of this role involves executing deliverables to help meet the needs of key partners and internal stakeholders (particularly the president of the GBU).

Responsibilities

President Executive Communications
• Work closely with the Senior Director of Corporate Communications to develop external and internal executive communications plans.
• Build message platforms and corporate narratives for the president and other members of the firm’s executive leadership.
• Write and develop executive speeches, presentations and internal communications collateral for the president – and other key executives as needed.
• Work closely with the Senior Director of Corporate Communications and the Chief of Staff to assess and manage external speaking engagements.
• Prepare briefing materials and background collateral for executives prior to external/industry events.
Internal Communications
• Develop internal communications plans to support GBU and major internal projects as appropriate.
• Utilize specialized knowledge to provide strategic direction, message development, and communication planning/implementation to increase the understanding of corporate vision and brand, business strategies and individual projects among the GBU audiences (internal and/or external).
• Create communications plans that blend attention to detail with flexibility and effective messaging.
• Conduct regular check-ins or attend meetings with business leaders and stakeholders to understand required communications support; provide counsel and recommendations. Incorporate needs, wants and goals from different business unit perspectives into communications plans, while being an advocate for audiences and communications best practices.
• Plan, edit, design content and manage Town Halls as appropriate for president.
• Write, edit and distribute internal emails outlining business strategy, structural or personnel changes, processes and procedures.
• Work across departments and divisions, demonstrating a collaborative, inclusive style. Embrace diversity of thought, background and experience in driving towards optimal communication solutions.
• Develop and train key leaders in business on self-serve communications tools, as needed (e.g. branded email templates, communications best practices).
• Serve as a primary editor and clearinghouse for all content, in partnership with Senior Director, Global Communications; advise on communications best practices.
• Work closely with Senior Director, Corporate Communications on organizational / change management communications
• Write and edit bios for president and direct reports to ensure they are well-written and adhere to the firm’s internal guidelines and brand.
• Manage GBU metrics reporting; monitor performance trends and make recommendations to enhance performance or create efficiencies in metrics reporting processes.
• Develop and help implement the strategy for new and existing communication channels to increase awareness and support of corporate objectives.
External Communications
• Develop corporate media strategies in partnership with marketing and PR teams to build visibility of GBU’s leadership, growth potential, global competitiveness, and performance.
• Lead executive visibility and expertise programs including awards, rankings, and conferences/external forums around our performance and industry.
• Manage news releases and media inquiries, in partnership with IQVIA PR and marketing teams, including helping to write materials, and securing approvals.
• Display business literacy and understanding of life sciences industry news and trends to identify opportunities for storytelling.
• Promote a favorable public reputation of the firm’s positive performance, accomplishments to external constituencies and audiences.
• Partner with marketing teams, as needed, on paid media opportunities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:
• Strong experience and interest in a variety of communications disciplines, including internal communications, social media and public relations.
• Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to quickly learn about IQVIA’s global businesses, combined with a strong ability to connect the underpinnings of our content to those businesses.
• Demonstrated proficiency of excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to write about complex topics in a simple, easy to understand way.
• Ability to synthetize complex thoughts or information utilizing critical thinking skills to analyze information and make well thought out decisions or recommendations.
• Understanding of communication strategy and ability to tailor content based on audience, message, medium, timeliness, and call to action, both in writing and verbally.
• Demonstrated mastery of Associated Press (AP) writing style.
• “Digitally savvy” and experienced in social media.
• Ability to work on-on-one with business leaders and partners (at all levels of the organization) on internal communications projects – from conception to launch – and provide strategic advice and execution support throughout the process.
• The ability to manage multiple projects at once while delivering high quality work, adhering to standards for internal client service and meeting deadlines with attention to detail.
• Strong project and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple demanding initiatives concurrently, balance multiple priorities, work with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines.
• Highly geared toward proactive work, detail-orientation, resourcefulness and continual learning.
• A strong sense of urgency, a high degree of initiative, and the ability to lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams with highly developed teamwork skills.
• Strong team ethic and collaborative work style, but able to work independently, assume responsibility and be accountable.

Minimum Required Education and Experience
• Degree in Communication, Journalism, or related field and 8 - 15 years of experience in corporate communications, including internal communications, executive communications, and/or media relations; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Experience in the life sciences, pharmaceutical industries is preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech
• Extensive use of writing and keyboarding requiring repetitive motion of fingers
• Regular sitting for extended periods of time
• Occasional travel
