Oncology Subject Matter Expert

European Data and Evidence Networks, Central Team

Location: Paris or London

IQVIA - Background

Around the world healthcare stakeholders are working to improve patient outcomes through treatment innovations, provision and better access to healthcare. IQVIA provides the information, technology and service solutions they need to drive new insights and approaches. With a global team of 60,000, we harness insights, commercial and scientific depth, and executional expertise to empower clients to achieve some of their most important goals: improving clinical, scientific and commercial results, realising the full potential of innovations and ultimately, driving healthcare forward.

We are one of only a few organisations that integrate real-world evidence, health economics, outcomes research, consulting, and health intelligence tools at the national and international levels across the healthcare value chain.

The position we are recruiting for sits within the IQVIA RWAS Global Business Unit (Real World and Analytics Solutions) which applies healthcare intelligence tools and expertise in real world evidence to deliver deep insights into the realities of healthcare delivery, patient populations, pathway design, the effectiveness of healthcare interventions and products, and value for money.

European Data & Evidence Networks (EDEN)

It is our belief that availability and transparency of treatment data lead to improved patient care. As such, in collaboration with leading pharmaceuticals and in consultation with healthcare professionals, governments and patient groups, our rapidly-growing team of around 100 people is leading the development of two pan-European information infrastructure platforms:

  • The Collaboration for Oncology Data in Europe (CODE) will collate comprehensive, up-to-date and validated data from up to 2000 healthcare providers on how anti-cancer medicines are used in clinical practice, establishing the first comprehensive long-term European Oncology Data Network.
  • The European Oncology Evidence Network will build a network of 15-20 hospital-based, anonymised clinical data centres to enable high-quality, observational-type studies on treatment outcomes and quality of care in oncology. Most of the research undertaken so far is clinical practice and health economics, with no trial or biomarker validation services developed to date.

Working with healthcare data providers across Europe, the initiatives will enable the oncology community to keep pace with innovation and derive the greatest value from anti-cancer treatments.

Technology is at the very core of our success and the enabler of our ambition to help connect treatment innovation to patient benefits and ultimately broaden the opportunity for individual patients to receive the therapies that are appropriate for them.

THE ROLE AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Oncology Subject Matter Expert will be part of the broader initiative team, providing guidance and expertise to the different workstreams within the initiative, including those relating to data capture, underlying data models (structure and ontologies), international variations in clinical practice and product availability, and the value of insights to front-line clinicians. Principal accountabilities will include:

  • Propose options for the design and management of data quality, including appropriate metrics and cross-checks
  • Propose specific activities to ensure accuracy and completeness of data, which integrate and comply with agreed data standards across IQVIA and the initiative
  • Work in close collaboration with both technical and project management teams, to facilitate the integration and adoption of recommendations
  • Manage projects or sections of data projects (depending on the size and complexity) and report on progress and issues
